5 Unbelievables coming to rock the World

From the last few decades,Construction industry is taking different routes and uses unbelievable and eye ball grabbing technologies and changed the entire world how it looks. The discoveries now available can't be imagined decades before.Now-a-days we come across new trends and technologies that shocking the world.

In this blog i am going to discuss with the upcoming 5 best amazing structures that are going to rock the world. Here are the five best upcoming projects that will take the engineering sector to a next level.

1.     Galactic Suites
Do you want to spend your holidays in space ? Is it looking crazy?Yes really.Don’t you believe it. Then lets go to spain. Galactic Suite Limited is a Spain based company, which have dared to think out of the box. .It will give chance to tourists to explore a new world .The project is to make a three bedroom hotel in space. Although, the designs made by the company has not been tested yet, but near in future, when the plan will succeed, it will be the example of best engineering.

      2.    Dubai’s Dynamic Tower
The Dynamic Tower (also known as Dynamic Architecture Building or the Da Vinci Tower) is a planned 420-metre (1,378 ft), 80-floor moving skyscraper in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, designed by architect David Fisher.Similar to the Suite Vollard completed in 2001 in Brazil  each floor will be able to rotate independently. This will result in a constantly changing shape of the tower. Each floor will rotate a maximum of 6 metres (20 ft) per minute, or one full rotation in 90 minutes. The entire tower will be powered from wind turbines and solar panels. The turbines will be located between each of the rotating floors. With the budget of $ 330 million, the hotel will be among the most expensive carousel.

  3.     Hydropolis – Underwater Hotel in Dubai
With a projected cost of $300 million to build, it would have also been one of the world’s most expensive hotels to visit. Planned in 2006. The undersea hotel was to have been built with 250 to 300 suites, as well as places for dining, a spa and a cinema. Are you ready to explore it if it would be achievable for you to stay, eat and sleep under the sea for a few days or months?

4.     Sky City 1000
This space-age city in the sky might seem like science fiction, but it answers some questions about where humans might live as our most crowded cities become even more densely populated.
The plan consists of a building 1,000 meters (3,280.8 feet) tall and 400 meters (1,312 feet) wide at the base, and a total floor area of 8 km² (3.1 miles² or 1976.8 acres). The design, proposed in 1989 by Takenaka Corporation, provides for 35,000 full-time residents and 100,000 workers, students and visitors. It comprises 14 concave dish-shaped “Space Plateaus” stacked one upon the other. The building would include residences, offices, commercial facilities, schools, theatres and other modern amenities.

      5.     City Pyramid – Shimizu Mega
This is another proposed project of Japan after Sky City . If the structure will be completed, it will be twelve times higher than the Great Pyramid of Giza. The pyramid will not only house more than 1,000,000 people but also give solution to lack of space in the country. This pyramid would help answer Tokyo's increasing lack of space, although the project would only handle 1/47th of the Greater Tokyo Area's population.

Extreme Engineering unveils some of the most ambitious architectural plans of our times. But all must face challenges that stretch the definition of what’s possible.

Concrete Cloth - A new product from the Concrete world

Can you believe concrete will bend and curve enabling it to follow the natural contours of the land, including ditches and slopes.

Unlike regular concrete, Concrete Cloth can be installed in the rain, and other wet conditions, virtually eliminating rescheduling due to weather conditions. It comes in a variety of sizes, including man-portable rolls that two men can carry, reducing the need for heavy machinery.
Concrete cloth is a unique proprietary material. It has a very wide range of applications throughout the building & civil engineering industry. Concrete cloth is a flexible; cement impregnated fabric that hardens when hydrated to form a thin, durable, water & fire proof concrete layer. CC allows concrete construction without the need for plant or mixing equipment. Simply position the canvas & just add water. CC has a design life of above 10 years and is significantly quicker and less expensive to install compared to conventional concrete.

The fabric structure also reinforces the concrete and reduces cracking, while using up to 95% less concrete than conventional methods. Concrete Cloth has a low alkaline reserve and a low wash rate for a low ecological impact. It meets many ASTM and other standards and is resistant to chemicals, weather, wear, and UV.

The unique structure of Concrete Cloth facilitates ease of installation. Cement mix is trapped in a flexible 3D fabric, backed with a waterproof layer. The fabric can be hung vertically, laid in trenches, or cut and formed into shapes to create a durable layer of concrete, all without the need for molds or mixers. Wet the fabric to activate the cement, and within 24 hours, the product has cured to 80% strength.

Installation & Use:

It’s easy to install Concrete Cloth - Just lay it, secure it, wet it and use it. Concrete cloth can be installed vertically, in wet weather and even underwater. And, it can be cut using common power tools, laid to fit uneven terrain or curves and attached with mechanical and non-mechanical fixtures.

Applications:

·        Ditch lining

·        Mining

·        Building Shelters

·        Erosion control and slope protection

·        Waterproof making

Eco-friendly:

Concrete Cloth  has a low ecological impact and is safe to use with standard PPE.

SILICA FUME

SILICA FUME:
Image
SILICA FUME: Silica fume is a byproduct of producing silicon metal or ferrosilicon alloys. One of the most beneficial uses for silica fume is in concrete. Because of its chemical and physical properties, it is a very reactive pozzolan. Concrete containing silica fume can have very high strength and can be very durable. Silica fume is available from suppliers of concrete admixtures and, when specified, is simply added during concrete production. Placing, finishing, and curing silica-fume concrete require special attention on the part of the concrete contractor.
Silicon metal and alloys are produced in electric furnaces . The raw materials are quartz, coal, and woodchips. The smoke that results from furnace operation is collected and sold as silica fume, rather than being landfilled. Perhaps the most important use of this material is as a mineral admixture in concrete.
Silica fume consists primarily of amorphous (non-crystalline) silicon dioxide (SiO2). The individual particles are extremely small, approximately 1/100th the size of an average cement particle. Because of its fine particles, large surface area, and the high SiO2 content, silica fume is a very reactive pozzolan when used in concrete.
rength and durable concrete were required. Silica Fume improves the characteristics of both fresh and hard concrete.
1. Reduce of Concrete Permeability
For provision of a concrete resistant to the most aggressive environment, the most important property is the permeability.
Lower the ingress of movement of water or chemicals; lower the deterious reactions such as sulfate attack, reinforcement corrosion…
The reaction between Silica Fume and the calcium hydroxide, released as the cement hydrates, provides a dense impermeable pore structure. Although the total porosity of the Silica Fume concrete is similar to the OPC concrete the average pore size is much finer, conducting to a large reduction of permeability.
2. Improvement of concrete mechanical Performances
The Silica Fume reacts with the cement paste to form additional strong Calcium Silicate Hydrate (CSH) providing higher strength.
Silica Fume reduces bleeding and enhances the cement paste bond to the aggregates. Thanks to its pozzolanic effect (reaction with Ca(OH)2 ), and therefore to the strength improvement, Silica Fume can be used to reduce to the cement content of the mix.
In addition of the cost saving benefit, this will reduce the total heat of hydration and can improve the performances of the concrete in terms of chemical resistance.
3. Improvement of Concrete Sulfate resistance
Prior to develop the advantages of using Silica Fume to improve the concrete sulfate resistance, it may be interesting to highlight the basics form of sulfate attacks and the properties of sulfate resisting cement.
The use and deterioration of concrete in environments containing sulfates has led to the development of special sulfate resisting cements.
It has also spawned significant research into the use of supplementary cementitious materials to improve sulfate resistance.
The utility of Silica Fume for enhancing the resistance of concrete to sulfate attack has been widely studied.
Sulfate resisting cements (type V) have a low C3A content to minimize the risk off sulfate attack. However, this does not necessarily provide immunity:
- as certain sulfate react with hydrated lime and the calcium silicate hydrate the sulfate resisting cement provide less protection than expected.
- Low C3A cements are more susceptible to reinforcement corrosion attack.
The basic forms of sulfate attack are the following:
The reactive aluminates in the cement will react with the gypsum in cement during hydration. This process is harmless as the ettringite does not produce expansive forces and is stable in sulfate solutions.
If the quantity of reactive aluminates in the cement is too high, then their hydrate form will be available to react with sulfates after the cement has hardened.
This will produce expansive ettringite and cracking of the concrete.
Aluminate Hydrate + Calcium Hydroxide + sulfate + water => Ettringite.
The second principle cause attack is the acid interaction of sulfates ions and calcium hydroxide, causing gypsum formation.
Calcium Hydroxide + sulfate + water => Gypsum
It has been shown that the cation (calcium, Magnesium, Aluminium, Ammonium) of the sulfate salt affects the type and the severity of the attack.
4. Improvement of Reinforcement Corrosion Protection
In a marine structure, the performances of the concrete in terms of sulfate resistance must be taken into consideration for concrete design but the resistance to chlorides diffusion through the concrete is generally a main concern as well.
Some studies conducted in several countries proved that Type 1 cements (with high C3A content) blended with Silica Fume used in combination with a high range water reducer provide high durable performance against chloride-induced reinforcement corrosion and against sulfate attack.
The main reasons of this result can be summarize as follows:
- Silica Fume reduces the permeability of the concrete. Water and chemicals ingress are thus reduced.
- The ability of high C3A cement to complex with chlorides results in the formation of insoluble compound, able to reduce the mobility of free chloride ion to the reinforcement-concrete surface.

Secrets of Ancient Rome's Amazing Concrete Revealed

The ancient Romans were so skilled at making concrete that breakwaters poured more than 2,000 years ago are still doing fine. The modern stuff? Give it 50 years before it starts eroding in seawater. Now, however, scientists think they've figured out how the Romans did it—and the findings could make today's concrete not only much stronger but more environmentally friendly, reports Bloomberg Businessweek. The Roman formula involves a combination of volcanic ash and lime that modern concrete lacks, and it uses a different "glue" to hold the components of concrete together, say researchers at theBerkeley Lab. (The resulting compound is "calcium-aluminum-silicate-hydrate" for the technical-minded.)
An example of the Roman ingenuity:
  • “For underwater structures, lime and volcanic ash were mixed to form mortar, and this mortar and volcanic tuff were packed into wooden forms," say the researchers. "The seawater instantly triggered a hot chemical reaction. The lime was hydrated—incorporating water molecules into its structure—and reacted with the ash to cement the whole mixture together.”
What's more, the Romans used less lime and baked it at lower temperatures, meaning the process was greener because it released less carbon into the atmosphere, saysHistory.com. By contrast, today's process is a big source of industry pollution. Says a Berkeley scientist: "The question remains, can we translate the principles from ancient Rome to the production of modern concrete? I think that is what is so exciting about this new area of research."

LIQUID GRANITE - A GROUND BREAKING SOLUTION TO A GROUND BREAKING PROBLEM

"The over-all point is that new technology will not necessarily replace old technology, but it will date it. By definition. Eventually, it will replace it. But it's like people who had black-and-white TVs when color came out. They eventually decided whether or not the new technology was worth the investment."  -    STEVE JOBS
LIQUID GRANITE: Scientists have developed a new building material that is fire resistant to temperatures in excess of 1100 degrees Celsius, is made largely from recycled material and is as versatile as concrete.
Most important to solving the problems of infrastructure is utilizing new materials that will overcome the deficiencies of old materials. It is only through this tactic that progress will be made in the battle of improving infrastructure.
There is also a need for greater versatility from the materials that make up the fabric of our buildings and surroundings. Liquid Granite meets these requirements and has a reduced environmental impact compared to conventional materials.
Liquid Granite offers a real breakthrough in reducing fire risk in buildings as, unlike concrete, it doesn't explode at high temperatures. It can also withstand high temperatures for longer periods, offering valuable minutes in the case of a fire.
In India this building material is still very new to most of the areas of construction industry.
The material is made up of between 30 and 70 per cent recycled material, mainly base products from industry. It uses less than one third of the cement used in precast concrete, which also reduces its carbon footprint.
The product was developed at Sheffield Hallam University and is available from Liquid Granite Ltd. The new material is being used by a number of organisations in building projects as it has a four hour fire rating, meaning that it provides the top level of protection in the case of a fire.
Professor Pal Mangat is the Director of the Centre of Infrastructure Management at Sheffield Hallam University and developed Liquid Granite. He explains, "Liquid Granite is a very versatile material that can be used in a similar way to concrete. The fact it has a high level of fire resistance means that it can be used in areas where fire safety is crucial, such as around power stations, and in domestic and commercial buildings can offer added time for evacuation in case of an emergency.
  • Heat:It can withstand with the temperature which the normal concrete can't.
  • Strength: Liquid Granite can be manufactured to comply with the toughest standards and can achieve compressive  strength of about  80N/m2.
strength
  • Reinforcement: Liquid granite behaves like the normal concrete towards reinforcement.
minimum-steel-reinforcement-in-concrete
  • Moisture: It has excellent moisture resisting properties. The water absorption value of Liquid Granite was as low as 5.18% as for the normal concrete it varies from 9.4% to 12.45%.Hence it can be used in damp environments like basements, sea locations etc.

Eco Friendly: Cement industry is one of the highest producers of CO2 where as Liquid Granite is 60 % less than most of the traditional concrete products.
Uses: Liquid Granite, because of its ability to tolerate heat and pressure so well, has been recently utilized in major construction projects. The Olympic Village in London, which  hosted the 2012 summer Olympic Games, makes use of it. The Stratford Shopping Centre, also in London, did too . These high profile projects, by using Liquid Granite, are making important headway in creating better infrastructure. Hopefully others will do the same. However, using Liquid Granite in new projects is not enough. The inadequacies of old infrastructure must also be addressed. Replacement of decaying concrete in old buildings with Liquid Granite, especially buildings prone to fire, is vital. By taking reasonable precaution and using Liquid Granite before catastrophe strikes, lives can be saved.
"Hope you get introduced to  the useful technology & meet you back with some other ground breaking technologies" - Viswa

10.     “Visual Basic” & “HTML”
Above two are not actually the software you are thinking, these are more than software actually these are programming languages that contributes towards standalone and integrated software and websites.

Hundreds of high-level languages have been developed, but only a few have achieved broad acceptance, for example (QBASIC, FORTAN and Pascal). Visual Basic is an example of a graphical-based language. A graphical-based language allows the user to work directly with graphics. Visual Basic is a Microsoft Windows Programming language. Visual Basic programs are created in an Integrated Development Environmental (IDE). The IDE allows the programmer to create, run and debug Visual Basic programs conveniently. IDEs allows a programmer to create working programs in a fraction of the time that it would normally take to code programs without using IDEs.

Whereas, HTML (Hyper Text Markup Language) is a basic need either if you want to spread your knowledge worldwide or to make people familiar about your Product or Company. With the use of HTML you can develop websites or start a new Blog where you can write and spread your content of knowledge/product/company more professionally.

I got the following information from the http://civilvalley.blogspot.in/ which is a very good informative blog. Please follow that blog.

"KNOWLEDGE SHARING IS KNOWLEDGE GAINING"
